ALEX JOHANSSON – conductor & arranger

Within the last years, Alex Johansson became a specialist in arranging, adapting and conducting filmmusic orchestra-concerts for performances around the world. ANIME IN CONCERT had it’s world-premiere in May 2022 at the Wiener Stadthalle, immediately followed by several ANIME-shows in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia). In July 2023 he will tour this show in Taiwan. Since 2022 he is also musical director of the periodically show-series HOLLYWOOD IN THE ARENA in Budapest.

The internationally successful gala-concert BOND IN CONCERT, originally first performed under his baton at the Wiener Konzerthaus in 2017, is now regularly programmed in concert-halls in Europe, Asia and the USA. A highly successful concert of music by ENNIO MORRICONE and NINO ROTA in February 2023 in Mexico City and with the Orquesta Filarmónica de la Ciudad de México will lead to further engagements and projects with this orchestra. He also recently conducted TRIBUTE TO JOHN WILLIAMS concerts in Hungary. Upcoming projects include arrangements and a CD-production with The Philharmonic Brass (members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra).

For the Wiener Volksoper he arranged Disney’s JUNGLE BOOK in a highly successful stage-adaption for kids. This production will soon be taken over at the opera-house in Munich. Currently he is working on a subsequent production for the Wiener Volksoper – Disney’s ARISTOCATS.

Alex Johansson studied trumpet and piano, and also holds graduate degrees in conducting (orchestra and choir) and composition from the University of Music in Munich and Linz. He is also teaching at the Bruckner University in Linz.

Internationally, Alex Johansson has worked as a conductor with the BR Radio Symphonic Munich Orchestra, the Budweis Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bavarian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Munich Symphony Orchestra, the Max Steiner Orchestra Vienna, the Györ Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra of the City of Mexico and the Vienna Boy’s Choir. He has recorded for the Bavaria Film Studios Munich and several German and Austrian broadcast companies.
